Serves: 5
  • 10 fresh firm figs
  • 1 tbsp Marsala
  • 2 tbsp Balsamic Glaze
  • ½ cup mascarpone cheese
  • ½ cup brown Sugar
  • ½ tsp ground cinnamon
  • ¼ cup toasted almond flakes
  1. Preheat the oven to 180°C. Cut the tips of the figs in half off, then cut a cross down through the top, about half way down the figs.
  2. Gently pinch each base of the figs and place them in a baking tray. Mix together the brown sugar and cinnamon and sprinkle each fig with a generous pinch, ensuring to get most inside the figs.
  3. Bake for 15 minutes, or until softened and the sugar has caramelized. Check the figs after 10 minutes, as they may differ in ripeness slightly and require different cooking times. Whilst these are baking, in a small bowl, mix together the mascarpone, and Marsala and set aside.
  4. To arrange the figs, serve them warm, or at room temperature with a spoon of the mascarpone mix, a drizzle of Balsamic Glaze and a scatter of almond flakes.
